Accreditation Year at Yerington High School

Every six years, Northwest Accreditation requires an indepth self-study for every accredited High School

PREFACE: In partial fulfillment of the requirements to be accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS) member schools are obligated to undergo a thorough self-study and comprehensive evaluation of the Core Standards to develop an approriate and meaningful school improvement plan using this approved evaluation model, known as Evidence Bassed Accreditation.

As part of the evaulation program, a visiting team of peer educators, known as the "Response Team," will assist the school by advising and counseling the administrator and Steering Committee during each phase of the evaluation process.

This Response Team is primarily concerned with those aspects of the school and its operation that have a bearing upon achieving the school's mission, compliance with the Core Standards for Accreditation, and improving student performance as identified in the school improvement plan.

THE PROCESS: This process is composed of six Steps: (1) telling the school's story and identifying the school's strengths and challenges; (2) identifying the school's beliefs and mission statement, (3) conducting an inquiry process- surveying and analyzing why the school is seeing the results they are seeing and determining what is currently in place to support student achievement both school-wide (organizationally) and indvidual classrooms (instructionally); (4) identifying what students should know and be able to do upon their completion of the educational program being offered and defining clear goals to accomplish this by developing a comprehensive 5-yr master plan that has both school-wide and individual classroom implications to move the school foward to improve student achievement in targeted areas; and (5) designing a plan for implementation, ongoing evaluation and analysis, and annual review of the plan and (6) demonstrating that the school meets the NAAS Standards
